04/10/2010 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Charlotte Bobcats continue their march to the postseason Saturday when they welcome the Detroit Pistons to Time Warner Cable Arena.
Two days after clinching the first postseason berth in franchise history the Bobcats found themselves on the losing end of a 97-90 score in Houston. Aaron Brooks scored 10 of his 23 points in the fourth quarter in that one, as the Rockets held off playoff-bound Charlotte.
Gerald Wallace and Boris Diaw each scored 18 for the Bobcats, who are in the seventh spot in the Eastern Conference with a likely first-round matchup against the Orlando Magic. Larry Hughes and Raymond Felton each had 16 points in defeat.
Charlotte toiled without leading scorer Stephen Jackson, who was sidelined with an array of nagging injuries.
Despite the loss, Charlotte can finish no worse than seventh in the East since the Chicago Bulls lost in double-overtime to New Jersey and the Toronto Raptors fell to Atlanta on Friday. Garnering the seventh seed was important since the Bobcats will avoid a first-round matchup against LeBron James and the mighty Cavaliers.
"It's good to finish seventh rather than eighth," Charlotte center Tyson Chandler said. "It's another notch up. Hopefully we can climb up to sixth, but I don't know how good our chances are for that."
The Bobcats are two games behind Miami for sixth after the Heat lost to Detroit last night but there are just three games left in the regular season.
The Pistons have shown some life heading to the finish line of a tough season and won for the third straight time in South Beach on Friday. Ben Gordon drained 7-of-11 three-pointers for a season-high 39 points in that one, as Detroit handed Miami a 106-99 defeat, snapping the Heat's nine-game winning streak.
Tayshaun Prince added 28 points, seven assists and six rebounds for the Pistons, who have won the three straight on the heels of an 11-game slide.
"I knew I had it going so I just wanted to not force anything and get good shots in rhythm," Gordon said.
The Bobcats snapped a two-game skid against Detroit with a 88-76 win in Charlotte back in December.

Chiefs' Treen Green out for Sunday's game
How long Trent Green will remain sidelined is unknown. Coach Herm Edwards said Monday he will miss a second straight start Sunday when the Chiefs host the San Francisco 49ers.
A two-time Pro Bowler, Green was going into a feet-first hook slide when he was knocked unconscious by a thunderous, head-snapping hit from Cincinnati's Robert Geathers.
Oddsmakers at online sportsbook MySportsbook.com currently have the Chiefs listed as 7-point favorites versus the 49ers.
The 49ers got beat by Philadelphia 38-24 as a 6.5-point underdog last week. The combined score went OVER the posted over/under total (42.5).
Alex Smith completed 27-of-46 passes for 293 yards with a touchdown. Michael Robinson rushed for 29 yards and a pair of touchdowns on five carries.
The Chiefs lost 9-6 to Denver last week as an 11-point underdog. The combined score was well UNDER the posted over/under total (38).
Larry Johnson rushed for 126 yards on 27 carries. Damon Huard completed 17-of-23 passes for 133 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions.
