Braves try to get on track in Miami

Baseball Betting Lines

09/19/2011 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Braves can see the light at the end of the tunnel, but their engines have stalled a bit over the last week. Perhaps one last trip to Sun Life Stadium can get their playoff hopes back on track.

Atlanta goes for its seventh victory in as many games in Miami this season when it beings a three-game set against the Florida Marlins this evening.

The Braves have lost six of their last nine overall, a span that began with a season-high four-game losing streak. The first three defeats of that skid came in St. Louis and the Cardinals have won nine of their last 11 to pull within 3 1/2 games of Atlanta for the National League Wild Card spot.

The Braves own a magic number of seven with nine games left to play to clinch the league's last playoff berth and could turn things around in their last- ever trip to Sun Life Stadium, having swept a pair of three-game sets there this season. Atlanta has won 11 of 15 overall against Florida in 2011.

Sunday's rubber match of a three-game series with the Mets did not go in the Braves' favor as they lost a 7-5 decision. Alex Gonzalez homered in the loss, but Martin Prado grounded out to end the game with runners on first and third.

"We fought but we just couldn't hang on to the lead. They kept coming back, we kept coming back. At the end they were victorious," said center fielder Michael Bourn, who had two hits, an RBI and scored twice.

An outing from Mike Minor could also reverse Atlanta's fortunes as the club is 9-1 over his last 10 starts, with the lefty himself going 5-0 in that span since his last loss on May 31.

Minor did not factor into the decision of a 7-1 win over the Marlins on Tuesday as the Braves plated all of their runs following his exit from the game. Minor allowed a run on four hits and four walks over 5 2/3 innings.

The 24-year-old is 5-2 with a 4.11 earned run average in 13 starts this year and has not posted a decision in two career meetings with the Marlins to go along with a 6.52 ERA.

The Marlins counter with right-hander Ricky Nolasco, who has lost three of his last four decisions and that includes a loss to the Braves last Wednesday in the rubber match of a three-game set in Atlanta. Nolasco hurled six shutout frames to begin his start before yielding four runs in the seventh inning to suffer defeat.

The big blow in Nolasco's final inning of work was a three-run homer by Gonzalez. Brian McCann and Dan Uggla have also homered this year off Nolasco, who is 1-1 with a 4.15 ERA in four starts versus the Braves in 2011.

The 28-year-old is 10-11 with a 4.42 ERA overall this year.

The Marlins have lost five of their past seven games and are coming off Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Nationals. Brett Hayes and Gaby Sanchez both homered, but Brad Hand allowed four runs -- three earned -- over four innings to take the loss.

"I felt pretty well out there tonight," said Hand. "I was throwing strikes, just a few bad pitches at a few costly times."

Florida will visit Milwaukee for three games following this series and will then end the season against the Nationals in the final set at Sun Life Stadium. The Marlins are set to move into a new stadium for the 2012 season.

Super Bowl XLIII Betting - Super Bowl 2009

Super Bowl 2009, the Arizona Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Let’s take a look at the Super Bowl 2009 betting odds and the betting line and figure out where they’ve been and where they are going to go.

MySportsbook.com put up the Super Bowl 2009 betting odds late on Sunday night with the Pittsburgh Steelers favored by 6.5 points and a total betting line at 47.5 points.

Since then, however, the Super Bowl 2009 betting odds have seen a good deal of movement and you’ll want to be on top of where they are likely to move to make sure you get the best line value for the big game.

Since opening, the Super Bowl 2009 betting lines went to Steelers -7 in the span of roughly 3 hours but were quickly bought back down just minutes later to 6.5 again.

After that is took about 5-6 more hours before the betting line went back to -7 where it has sat for a while now and is likely to remain. The opening betting total of 47.5 was bet down right after the line became available and went to 47 within minutes.

Roughly a day later it has been bet even further down to the 46.5 tally it currently is set at.

Roughly 60% of gamblers seem to be on the Cardinals here so the point spread will be bet down and a 7.5 would not last very long at all with many taking the early 6.5 in hopes of finding a potential middle in the Super Bowl 2009 betting odds.

If you like Arizona and see a 7.5, I’d take it as soon as possible because it’s unlikely to last. For Pittsburgh backers, the -7 might be the best you’ll be able to find but a 6.5 is definitely possible close to game time.

Regarding the Super Bowl 2009 betting odds for the total, most tracked gamblers are already on the over and with those who took the under 47.5 already securing a middle on the over 46.5, the only way I see it moving is back up to 47 so if you like the over, I’d recommend betting now.
